Where Mathematics Meets Chinese Culture
Chinwa Day is a special celebration combining Chinese cultural heritage with mathematical excellence. It's a unique event created by Varphi Club to honor the rich history of Chinese mathematics and celebrate the contributions of Chinese mathematicians throughout history.
Ancient China gave us the abacus, the decimal system, and revolutionary mathematical concepts. From the "Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art" to modern achievements, Chinese mathematicians have shaped the world of mathematics for over 3,000 years.
Varphi Club believes in celebrating diversity and the universal language of mathematics. Chinwa Day represents unity, prosperity, and the endless pursuit of knowledgeโvalues shared by both Chinese culture and mathematical exploration.
In Chinese culture, certain numbers bring fortune. Can you guess the lucky number?
๐ฏ Guess a number between 1 and 100!
From "Zhang Qiujian Suanjing" (5th Century)
If a rooster costs 5 coins, a hen costs 3 coins, and 3 chicks cost 1 coin, how many roosters, hens, and chicks can you buy with exactly 100 coins to get exactly 100 birds?
Total Birds: 0
Total Cost: 0 coins
In Chinese culture, 8 (ๅ ซ, bฤ) is the luckiest number because it sounds like "prosperity" (็ผ, fฤ). This is why you'll often see prices ending in 8!
The Chinese abacus (suanpan) has been used for over 2,000 years and is still taught in schools. Experts can calculate faster than calculators!
In the 5th century, Zu Chongzhi calculated ฯ to 7 decimal places (3.1415926), a record that stood for 800 years!
The Lo Shu Square is a 3ร3 magic square from ancient China where all rows, columns, and diagonals sum to 15. It's over 4,000 years old!
Share your hopes and dreams for your mathematical journey!
"May I solve every problem with elegance and grace!"
"Wishing for perfect scores in all my exams this year!"
"Hope to understand topology before graduation!"
